How to use this saturation chart
At a known temperature, find the corresponding saturation pressure. At a known pressure, find the corresponding bubble and dew saturation temperatures. The interactive lookup uses the committed one-degree data and linear interpolation between adjacent rows. It returns no result outside −40°F to 150°F.
Superheat uses the dew (saturated vapor) temperature at suction pressure. Subcooling uses the bubble (saturated liquid) temperature at liquid pressure. The matching calculators handle those differences, but only the equipment manufacturer can specify the target and required operating conditions.
For blend refrigerants, retain the bubble/dew distinction. R-454B is shown as liquid/bubble and vapor/dew from its source table; the source pressure is converted from psia to psig. R-454B and R-32 require A2L service procedures. The R-22 chart is for servicing existing systems only.
Source and assumptions
- Data source: CoolProp 8.0.0 saturation data committed with the application.
- Lookup range: −40°F to 150°F in one-degree rows. Intermediate values use linear interpolation; out-of-range values are not extrapolated.
- This chart does not set a charging target. Follow equipment instructions and applicable refrigerant safety requirements.
R-22 PT chart FAQs
What is an R-22 PT chart?
It pairs R-22 saturation temperature with bubble and dew pressure for servicing existing R-22 equipment. The committed range is −40°F through 150°F.
Which column should I use?
Use the column appropriate to the measurement and manufacturer procedure. Superheat uses dew temperature; subcooling uses bubble temperature.
Does this chart set a charging target?
No. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions and required operating conditions.
Does the chart calculate outside its range?
No. It returns no saturation value below −40°F or above 150°F.
Is this for new R-22 installations?
No. This reference is for servicing existing R-22 systems only.
